This afternoon: buying jeans with Jenson Button. I just know there's a joke in there somewhere.
Other than *cavorting* with Formula One *stars*, I am slowly resurfacing from a week from hell, no less, full of life-draining emotion and travel. Last night I finally got around to watching Kill Bill, and since I've never had any problem with imagined film/TV violence, I had a splendid time. One of my previous boyfriends was a keen watcher/lover/obssessive fan of oriental martial arts films, manga, and graphic violence (again, only in the realm of visual realisation), and so I was spoon-fed these sorts of things for a long time. This means that I don't vomit at the sight of someone losing a head, retch at the notion of a hand-removed eye, or even twitch, looking at Lucy Liu's brain. A crying shame it had to end that way with her, though. She's a magnificently gorgeous creature.
Oh, and I've got a new mobile phone. With camera attachment. So very nice. If you haven't received my new number, send me an email.

I have lost someone dear to me and am going home. Incidentally, I'll therefore be able to spend my birthday Monday in the company of my parents, for the first time in many years. A little bit of joy inbetween the sorrow.

Got tickets for one of those Pixies gigs in June.
This is why I still live in London.
Forget about the book meme. Nobody really cares anyway. I post lists only in order to fulfill my desire for writing lists. So here's another kind of list. The shopping...ehm...meme, if you will. Although hardly a meme. Let me rephrase that:
TODAY'S SHOPPING LIST:
Tins of plum tomatoes
Scotch tape
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Vanity Fair's Hollywood edition
Mince pork
Mince beef
Throat pastilles
Vitamins
Ryebread
Ham
Soups
Beans
Carrots
Tissue
Fruit
Mushrooms
I've got a violent cold and won't be doing anything remotely exciting over the weekend. But tonight and tomorrow night Channel 4 is showing Angels in America, about which I'm quite curious (and slightly apprehensive).

Belated but not beaten:
Last weeekend I went to my first Burns Night-party. I didn't really know what to expect, except something or other relating to Robert Burns and something or other relating to sheeps' innards.
The distaff sides of the invited couples knew better, and stayed away from what is traditionally a party of men. It was quite interesting to observe a group a IT geeks recite poetry left, right and centre. The evening started with the Selkirk Grace, and after a fishy starter the haggis was brought in, to the fanfare of To A Haggis. Plenty o' whisky was consumed, more poetry discovered and read aloud, and at the end of the evening I felt culturally enlightened (although not fonder of Robbie Burns than I was before).
Other than that; working too much, too hard, too late - not enough fun, but at least I'm losing weight.
